The Registered Occupational Therapist provides evaluation and treatment for individuals with physical or cognitive impairments that limit their ability to perform daily activities.
Essential Responsibilities : This role requires adherence to privacy regulations concerning Protected Health Information (PHI) and maintaining professional communication with patients, families, healthcare teams, and external agencies. The therapist performs duties within the scope of practice defined by licensing boards, demonstrating the skills necessary to deliver patient care according to departmental policies and competencies. Responsibilities include assessing patient needs, developing and implementing comprehensive care plans, and educating patients across all age groups from newborns to geriatrics. The therapist also provides clinical oversight to Occupational Therapy Assistants.
General Responsibilities : Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities : This position does not include supervisory or management duties.
Minimum Qualifications : Education must meet licensing requirements at the time of licensure. Current Occupational Therapy licensure through the appropriate state board is required. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR from an approved provider must be obtained within 30 days of hire or by the end of orientation. If driving is required, a valid driver's license and auto insurance meeting state requirements are necessary.
Preferred Qualifications : Prior experience in a similar clinical environment is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities : Strong understanding of Occupational Therapy principles, effective communication skills, and basic computer proficiency are essential.
Physical Requirements : This role involves medium physical work, occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds and frequently up to 10 pounds. Standing or walking may be required 26-50% of the workday.
