As part of a reimagined Top of the Rock experience, the most iconic vantage point of Manhattan now includes The Weather Room Bar and Café. Named after the formerly functioning National Weather Service’s Doppler radar that sits atop the 70th floor of Rockefeller Center, The Weather Room offers distinctly New York food and beverages in the clouds.

All ingredients and prepared foods are sourced from fine purveyors across Rockefeller Center’s campus and throughout the five boroughs. Guests can enjoy espresso drinks, baked goods, counter sandwiches, and snacks while taking in the iconic view of Top of The Rock.

Position Summary

We are seeking a passionate and service-driven General Manager to lead our team and deliver exceptional guest experiences at The Weather Room. This role is responsible for fostering a high-performing, collaborative team culture, ensuring positive guest experiences, and driving business performance. The ideal candidate is a visionary leader with a passion for hospitality, operational excellence, and team development.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee daily operations across all shifts, ensuring consistency in service, quality, and guest satisfaction
  • In conjunction with the Director of Operations, develop and implement operational procedures to optimize efficiency and profitability
  • Monitor and manage labor, inventory, and cost controls

Team Management

  • Hire and onboard front-of-house and back-of-house staff, working closely with Human Resources
  • Lead, mentor, and develop department managers and staff across front-of-house and back-of-house
  • Expand and maintain training materials, conduct regular service training with staff, and drive team engagement
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching and feedback
  • Foster a culture of accountability, inclusivity, and continuous improvement
  • Financial Oversight & Operational Compliance

  • Analyze financial reports and key performance indicators to drive revenue and control costs
  • Collaborate with Director of Operations on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning
  • Ensure compliance with all financial, legal, and regulatory requirements
  • Guest Experience

  • Champion a guest-first culture, ensuring all patrons receive exceptional service
  • Address guest concerns and feedback with professionalism and urgency
  • Maintain a welcoming, safe, and vibrant environment for all visitors
  • Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in a General Manager or senior leadership role in a high-volume hospitality environment
  • Strong emotional intelligence, experience mentoring and coaching teams
  • Proficiency in restaurant management systems (POS, inventory, scheduling, etc.)
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • NY Food Handlers’ Certificate required within 60 days of hire
  • TIPS Certification preferred
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Essential Functions and Physical Demands

    This role requires the ability to :

  • Stand and walk for extended periods (up to 12 hours)
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Navigate stairs and tight spaces frequently
  • Work in varying temperature environments
  • Occasionally travel to vendor sites or other company locations
