Responsibilities Work in a 16-bed ICU on the 2nd floor, including MICU with some SICU cases Acute care hospital environment with Level II trauma designation Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 2 Common procedures include CRRT (prismaflex), TTM-Arctic Sun, mass transfusions, rotaprone therapy, and bedside procedures Patient population includes trauma (e.g., MVA, drownings, spinal injuries), neuro cases (EVD, LP drain, 24-hour EEG, neurosurgery), sepsis, DKA, post-surgical recovery, and COVID Utilizes Allscripts - Sunrise EMR 12-hour day shifts starting at 7 AM Weekend shifts required every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) Holiday coverage is part of the core staff rotation Floating is rare but may occur to PCU or CVICU, primarily to assist as needed No call or standby requirements Work closely with a multidisciplinary team including intensivists, hospitalists, and RT available 24 / 7 Nurse aides support the unit and a charge nurse or supervisor is present on shift Unit / department-specific orientation consists of a 12-hour shift on the same unit and shift as hired, plus an initial 12-14 hour orientation day Scrub color is black Participate in bedside procedures such as trach care, CT insertion, bronchoscopy, art line insertion, and organ procurement Schedules are posted six weeks in advance; block scheduling is not guaranteed, but can be discussed First-day responsibilities include competencies, computer-based modules, and general orientation Requirements Active IL RN license required Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS; PALS is preferred Minimum of 1 year ICU experience in a Level I or Level II trauma center Experience in hospitals with 300 beds required Strongly prefer experience with CRRT and pulling sheaths Must be comfortable titrating common ICU drips (e.g., Precedex, pressors, antiarrhythmics, sedation) Ability to interpret telemetry strips (Draeger monitors used) Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-618273.
