People Leadership
Responsible for employment decisions such as recruiting, interviewing, hiring, coaching, and terminating.Builds an open-door culture by engaging and listening to associates; leverage the Voice of Associate tool to respond to feedback.Accountable for creating and posting the store schedule after input from Experience and Process Leader.Facilitates associate experience and development, including reviews, recognition, team activities, labor management, training, onboarding, mentoring and succession planning.Delegates effectively, empowers others to succeed, and encourages ownership of results.Communicates information to associates and adjusts priorities to meet goals.Ensures alignment and responsiveness to a changing environment.Addresses associate complaints and grievances.Recognizes and celebrates associates driving engagement.Ensures timely associate reviews.Overall Store Experience
Leads associate and pet parent experience; ensures pets in care are safe and healthy.Manages pet parent interactions via phone, in person, or online; addresses concerns.Creates a store environment focused on exceptional experiences for both pet parents and associates.Evaluates operations and seeks opportunities to improve processes and services.Partners with Store Leadership to execute in-store and community events with local adoption groups.Maintains store standards and enforces policies, procedures, and ethics.Conducts monthly Core and Services Walks to validate policy execution.Maintains a safe environment for associates, pets, and pet parents.Manages inventory to ensure appropriate in-stock levels.Communicates business and financial objectives to leaders and associates.Reviews in-store cameras to assess safety and behaviors; coaches as needed.Acts when a sick / injured pet is identified; arranges transport to the vet as needed.Supports opening / closing procedures to uphold brand promise.Business Management
Delivers corporate strategy and profitability by executing leadership direction.Analyzes reporting; communicates results and creates improvement plans.Drives opportunities to grow the business; holds associates accountable for store P&L targets.Manages expenses (labor, supplies, etc.).Coordinates with home office partners to complete work orders and allocate purchasing cards.Creates and posts store schedules; processes payroll weekly within budget.Performs daily, weekly, and monthly reporting and related paperwork.Performs store-related errands as needed.Qualifications
4-6 years of retail leadership or equivalent customer-focused experience.Full-time availability; flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.Proficiency with computer applications.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to remain composed under pressure.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Supervisory Responsibility
Typically oversees Experience Leader and Process Leader, up to six lead associates and ten to seventy non-leader associates. Follows PetSmart policies and procedures.Physical Demands and Work Environment
Stand, walk, climb, handle objects, and perform tasks requiring use of hands. May include reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and speaking / hearing. Vision requirements apply.May lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally; team lifts allowed for heavier items.Work may involve exposure to moving parts, pet hair, and variable noise levels; exposure to live animals is common.Equal Opportunity
