About the Role

We are seeking an experienced System Software Programmer – Project Lead to support a large-scale data integration and modernization initiative within a major public health technology division. This role focuses on backend development, Rhapsody integration, and data transformation for critical disease surveillance and laboratory reporting systems.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader who can manage complex data workflows, guide development teams, and ensure systems meet security and compliance standards for healthcare and public data environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain integration processes using Rhapsody (v6+) and Symphonia Mapping Language (SML).
• Support modernization of electronic lab reporting (ELR) and electronic case reporting (eCR) workflows.
• Perform requirements analysis, data mapping, and system architecture design.
• Create and maintain Rhapsody routes and data transformation logic (HL7, XML, CSV, SOAP).
• Collaborate with internal IT teams and vendors on system integration and performance optimization.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data exchange, web services, and route performance.
• Participate in testing, validation, and deployment of new and existing interfaces.
• Mentor team members, conduct code reviews, and ensure development best practices.
• Develop and maintain system documentation, technical specifications, and architecture diagrams.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, PHI, and CDC data protection standards.
