Overview

Party Chief / Project Surveyor (Field to Finish) role at Jacobs. This range is provided by Jacobs. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more. Base pay range : $62,200.00 / yr - $150,000.00 / yr.

Based in San Francisco, California or Nevada, working hybrid (remotely or from a Jacobs office). You will work on a one or two-person field crew to perform surveys using GNSS and Robotic Total Station equipment with potential to travel to sites across the US and globe. Approximately 50% of the role will be in the field and 50% in the office. This position is paid hourly and the range reflects minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries across locations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform control, boundary, topography, laser scanning and other tasks.
  • Perform construction staking.
  • Collect survey data using GNSS receivers, scanners, total stations, levels, and survey controllers.
  • Produce clear and concise field notes and quality field data.
  • Communicate with supervisor and office staff about important aspects of the project.
  • Work outdoors in variable weather conditions and varied terrain.

Office duties

  • Field crew setup.
  • Geodetic control network planning and design.
  • Control survey processing and adjustment.
  • Construction staking preparation and quality checking.
  • Feature processing of topographic field data.
  • Generating, editing and cleanup of Digital Terrain Models (DTM).
  • Title commitment review and public records research.
  • COGO calculations and boundary resolution; writing property descriptions.
  • Obtaining permits and Right of Entry; ensuring all QC plans are followed.
  • Assisting PM in estimating surveying tasks and scheduling.
  • Collaborate with a multi-discipline team; adhere to company policies including safety protocols.
  • Participate in department and field crew training; represent Jacobs with professionalism.
  • Qualifications

    Minimum qualifications

  • Experience with surveying data using Civil3D, Microstation, OpenRoads, or similar CAD program.
  • Proven ability to complete all technical aspects of a surveying task.
  • Good social and communication skills; trusted and respected in the surveying community.
  • Valid driver's license; ability to travel up to 50% (mostly within California, Nevada, and Arizona).
  • Ability to pass drug screen and background checks.
  • Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with Trimble equipment and software.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in applicable field.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience as an Instrument Operator, Party Chief, Survey Technician, or Project Surveyor.
