Transportation Planning Project Manager
The City of Tucson's Department of Transportation & Mobility (DTM) is seeking an experienced transportation professional to manage the planning, scoping, and preliminary design of multimodal transportation capital projects. The Planning Project Manager will be focused on delivering active transportation, complete street, and safety projects funded through Tucson's Proposition 407 Strong Connections and Proposition 411 Safe Streets funding programs. Project types include bicycle boulevards, protected bike lanes, pedestrian safety & walkability projects, greenways, and shared-use paths. The Project Manager leads interdisciplinary teams of planners, engineers, landscape architects, and public engagement professionals focused on developing active transportation and complete street capital projects. The ideal candidate will have experience with transportation planning and design, including knowledge of bicycle and pedestrian facility design and traffic operations. The Project Manager position at the City of Tucson's Department of Transportation & Mobility is responsible for supporting conceptual design and public engagement efforts related to bicycle, pedestrian, and multimodal transportation projectsfrom initial planning and scoping through early design (up to approximately 30% design completion). This position monitors project budgets and schedules, directs consultants, coordinates with a variety of staff, and assists the Engineering Project Manager during the final design phase.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Senior Project Manager. This position does not supervise.

Minimum qualifications include :
Education : Bachelor's degree in related field
Work Experience : Three (3) years of directly related experience
License / Certifications : Valid and unrestricted Arizona Class D Driver License - Arizona Department of Transportation Preferred Qualifications
Educational background in urban planning, civil engineering, landscape architecture, architecture, public health, or a closely related field. Master's degree in Planning, Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Public Administration, or a related discipline. Professional experience in developing multimodal transportation projects, with a focus on bicycle, pedestrian, and transit facilities. Direct experience working with stakeholders and the public, including meeting facilitation, event planning and coordination, and delivering public presentations. Working knowledge of design guidelines from the National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO), American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), U.S. Access Board, and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), especially as they relate to Active Transportation and Complete Streets. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and experience using ArcGIS and / or Adobe Creative Suite for planning, analysis, and visual communication.
