Description : This position is primarily engaged in facilitating research and research-related administrative activities of Dr. Szymon Ciesielski research group.
Qualifications : Previous experience in utilizing laboratory techniques, including chemistry, molecular biology, and biochemistry experimental methods, is highly desired. Preference will be given to candidates with a B.S. degree or higher in Biochemistry or a related field; however, candidates without a completed professional degree may also be considered for this position. In addition to laboratory experience, the candidate must also present a desirable level of professional and administrative skills. That includes strong leadership and teamwork skills, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, as well as a willingness to mentor students. Proficiency in scientific writing and communications is highly desired.
General Description / Primary Purpose : Dr. Szymon Ciesielski from the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of North Florida invites applications for a twelve-year appointment as a Research Assistant as part of his research group. This position offers full-time or near full-time employment with UNF-regulated health benefits until June of 2029, pending availability of extramural funding. A possibility of continuation beyond that period may be possible in the future. It is renewed on a semester-to-semester basis, and the prospective candidate will be subjected to a one to two-month test period upon initial hiring.
Dr. Ciesielski seeks a dedicated, highly motivated, professional who will significantly contribute to his laboratory's research activities. Dr. Ciesielski research group focuses on studying how structure and molecular interactions determine the biological activity of cellular proteins, with current interest in studying molecular chaperones (more information can be found here : https : / / sjciesielskilab.domains.unf.edu / ). Initial laboratory experience is highly desired, and preference will be given to candidates with a B.S. degree or higher in Biochemistry or a related discipline.
Upon joining our research team, you will be conducting independent experimental work, managing the laboratory, and supporting Dr. Ciesielski in training, mentoring, and supervising research students. Dr. Ciesielski's research group offers a vibrant and intense research-oriented environment with the potential for honing experimental and professional skills at UNF. In addition to performing experiments, that position provides an opportunity to participate in science-related activities like manuscript and grant proposal preparations as well as attending and presenting at scientific conferences.
