A company is looking for an Authorization Specialist (Remote in Wisconsin / Michigan).
Key Responsibilities
Review patient medical records to determine the necessity of prior authorization for treatments, procedures, or medications
Verify patient eligibility and contact insurance companies to obtain necessary authorizations
Manage the authorization process to minimize delays in patient care
Required Qualifications, Training, and Education
Minimum of two years' experience in a medical business office or healthcare setting
Understanding of basic medical terminology, disease processes, and treatment options
Familiarity with different insurance plans and prior authorization guidelines
Successful completion of post-secondary courses in Medical Terminology and Diagnosis and CPT Coding, and Anatomy & Physiology is preferred
Graduate of a Medical Assistant, Health Unit Coordinator, or Health Care Business Service program is preferred
