Fiscal Analyst Position
The Forsyth County Department of Public Health is seeking to hire a detail oriented and highly organized professional for a Fiscal Analyst position. A qualified applicant must be able to work independently on a variety of finance-related tasks in support of the Business Office of Public Health. The primary purpose of this position is the ability to review, process, and maintain contracts for the department, and to complete projects related to the efficient operations of the Department of Public Health. Work includes performing accurate reconciliation functions for Public Health revenues, monitor expenditures, and produce various fiscal reports.
Schedule : Monday - Friday; 8 : 00 a.m. - 5 : 00 p.m. Employee will be expected to travel between the Government Center and HHS Campus as needed.

- Working knowledge of public-sector finance laws and best practices.
- Ability to interpret, communicate and enforce financial policies and internal controls.
- Intermediate proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite and enterprise management software
- General Knowledge of office or work procedures, methods, and practices.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to perform intermediate mathematical computations accurately and efficiently.
- Ability to work with courtesy and tact on cross functional teams.
- Ability to communicate effectively in-person, by telephone, and e-mail.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
- Ability to use a variety of office equipment as required by the position.
Minimum Education and Experience
Graduation from college with major course work in accounting or related field and at least two years of accounting experience; An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. A higher education level may be considered as a substitution for all or part of the experience requirement. Driver's License Required. Preferred : experience in governmental accounting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Reviews and analyzes accounts, records, financial statements, internal controls, and fiscal procedures - Performs special studies involving the analysis of financial systems and operations in various departments of the county and makes appropriate recommendations for improving the systems or operations. - Examines records and makes comparisons with the work activities to ensure proper recording of transactions and compliance with statutory and policy requirements. - Analyzes records of use of manpower, equipment, and facilities to determine degree of utilization. - Confers with superiors, department heads, and others concerning recordkeeping problems and types of studies needed. - Prepares reports and makes recommendations. - Prepares and reviews various financial statements - Participates in routine accounting functions as needed. - Performs related work as required. - Maintaining a specific license such as a driver's license in good standing, without a lapse or loss of a privilege to drive in compliance with North Carolina law, and in compliance with applicable DOT standards for commercial motor vehicle drivers if required to perform the duties assigned to the position.
