Job Description

Overview

The Health and Safety Manager will oversee safety operations across five distribution centers. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable HSE regulations, fostering a strong safety culture, and driving continuous improvement in workplace safety performance. The Health and Safety Manager will lead strategic initiatives to reduce workplace injuries, improve TCIR, and implement sustainable safety programs.

Essential Functions

  • Ensures company compliance with all applicable HSE Regulations
  • Practices transparent compliance by utilizing HSE walk-throughs, corrective action logs, risk assessments and behavioral based safety observations, championing efforts to audit physical conditions and safe work practices
  • Implements, educates, and maintains policies, practices, and programs associated with all phases of occupational safety, health, accident prevention, and environmental compliance
  • Leads and investigates employee near miss, corrective action, incident investigation, root cause discovery and reporting efforts
  • Recommends, develops, implements, and creates programs to reduce work-related incidents or injuries with emphasis on prevention efforts geared toward near miss reporting, zero incident-injury goals and risk mitigation efforts
  • Manages HSE training programs including but not limited to Emergency Action and Fire Prevention, Hazard Communication, Process Safety Management, and Lockout / Tagout
  • Fosters HSE Committee(s) that will aid in a strong and sustainable safety culture
  • Develops and executes a multi-year HSE strategy aligned with company goals
  • Benchmarks safety performance against industry standards and drives continuous improvement
  • Analyzes safety data trends to identify risk areas and proactively implement mitigation strategies
  • Maintains and reports safety metrics, including TCIR, DART, and near-miss frequency, to leadership, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of incidents and compliance documentation
  • Serves as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies (e.g., OSHA, EPA) during inspections or audits
  • Oversees emergency response planning and drills across all distribution centers
  • Ensures readiness for fire, chemical, weather-related, and other emergency scenarios
  • Implements and manages EHS software systems for incident tracking, training, and compliance
  • Maintains strict confidentiality
  • Performs other duties and / or tasks as assigned

Skills

  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other relevant regulations
  • Required Qualification and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or related field
  • 7 – 10 years HSE leadership, preferably in logistics, warehousing, or manufacturing
  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), or OSHA 30 / 500
  • Travel required up to 25% of the time
  • Physical Demands

  • Must be able to communicate verbally and written
  • Must be able to read from a screen
  • Must be able to ascend / descend ladders and stairs
  • Must be mobile within an office space to access file cabinets, office and / or computer equipment
  • Must be able to sit for 7+ hours a day
  • Must be able to stand / walk for 7+ hours a day
  • Must be able to operate a vehicle for 3+ hours
  • Must be able to travel by air for 8+ hours
