Supervisory Responsibilities :
Duties / Responsibilities :
The Track Laborer's duties shall include :
Inspect, repair and / or install track and track components, such as the rail, ties, bars, ballast etc.Inspect, repair and / or install replace track switchesInspect, repair and / or install fences, waylands, bridges, street and railroad crossingsCorrect deviations in track surface, alignment and gaugeCut rails to specific lengthsAdjust, lift and roll railsSlide and align tie platesDrill holes through rails for insertion of bolts and tighten or loosen bolts at joints that hold ends or rails togetherSort track material for loading and unloadingClear brush, vegetation, snow, litter etc. from right-of-way; establish and maintain drainageSpray switches, angle bars and joints with oil for lubricationEnsure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA)Participate in group discussions including unit meetings, job briefings, safety meetings or process reviewsMaintain maintenance-of-way documentation such as summaries and reportsReceive instructions, requests, orders, and information from posted bulletins, memorandums, rules and regulation manualsOperate equipment necessary to inspect, repair and improve track structure and other railroad property / facilitiesAssist Foremen / Track Inspectors and Machine Operators / Welders, as directedQualifications :

Required Skills :
Commercial Driver's License (CDL), preferred5 or more years' experience in the railroad industry preferredTrack maintenance experienceHeavy machine / equipment operating experienceWelding experience preferredEducation and Experience :
High School diploma / GED18 years of age or olderValid Driver's LicensePhysical Requirements :
Walk long distance over uneven terrain, work around moving equipment, climb, ascend and descend locomotivesEmployees must be able to meet and comply with the manufacturer's weight limitation safety rating and recommendations for any equipment associated with performing their duties, including the safety rating for ladders (both portable and affixed) and fall arrest equipmentHeavy work, lifting up to 70 pounds occasionally and up to 100 pounds on a rare basisReach, bend, push, pull, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, sit, stand, balance and lift in the course of dutiesTalk / hear (communicate, detect, converse with, discern, convey, express oneself, exchange information)See (detect, determine, perceive, identify, recognize, judge, observe, inspect, estimate, assess)Must possess at least 20 / 40 in each eye with or without corrective lenses. Must be able to recognize and distinguish colors displayed by signals, signs, etc. Has ability to distinguish with no more than four (4) errors in a sixteen (16) plate isochromatic test. Must possess an average hearing threshold (in the better ear) of 40db at 500HZ 1000HZ and 2000HZ, aided or unaidedEmployment Conditions :
