Colleges, Housing, and Educational Services (CHES) supports college student life, housing services, facilities, dining services, and related areas within the Division of Student Affairs and Success (DSAS).
CHES serves on-campus housing and dining services for approximately 9,500 students across ten residential colleges and six multi-college communities. UC Santa Cruz Dining aims to deliver high-quality service and food while upholding social, nutritional, and financial responsibilities.
Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Unit Management Team, the Storekeeper will be responsible for receiving and inspecting food service products. The incumbent will communicate, report, and resolve order damages and discrepancies according to UCSC Dining Services policies and procedures.
Appointments Information and Salary
Budgeted Salary : $25.46 / hourly

Job Duties
75% - Receiving and Storage – Inspects all merchandise to ensure compliance with product specifications, order quantity, sanitation and quality control. Oversees receiving and distribution of supplies; reviews invoices for accuracy and condition. Monitors loading area and ensures access for vehicles. Signs invoices after verification and notes any necessary changes. Compares purchase orders to invoices and notifies management of discrepancies. May weigh merchandise and maintain a written log; corrects invoicing as needed. Verifies linen deliveries and advises management of discrepancies. Records delivery conditions and notifies supervisor of policy deviations. Returns non-conforming merchandise. Maintains temperature logs for walk-in / reach-in refrigerators and freezers. Maintains sanitation standards and labels codes per Dining Services guidelines. Cleans work areas and storage spaces. Stores items per HACCP guidelines; rotates inventory using FIFO. Notifies management before discarding stock. Advises on inventory rotation improvements. Ensures storage areas are secure. Issues supplies to production staff and transfers supplies as needed.10% - Invoicing and Inventory – Validates inventory counts; in the absence of the Senior Storekeeper, ensures invoices are entered accurately and timely. Supervises central stock storage and distribution; communicates inventory levels and issues to management.5% - Delivery – Provides backup for Senior Storekeeper; delivers products to production areas and governs distribution to units.5% - Student Staff Supervision – Supervises student assistants in stocking, issuing, cleaning, and deliveries. Provides on-the-job training and fosters teamwork by setting an example.5% - Other Duties as Assigned – May drive campus vehicles or personal vehicle for events and other duties; provides opening backup and suggests process improvements; assists on additional duties as assigned.Required Qualifications
Demonstrated related experience in a dining / food environment with responsibilities for receiving, stocking, and storing perishable and non-perishable items.Experience handling deliveries including shortages, incorrect items, or damaged goods.Knowledge or ability to learn HACCP Food Safety and Sanitation practices.Knowledge or ability to learn inventory control and physical cycle counts.Organizational and time management skills; ability to follow instructions and work independently.Mathematical skills to calculate pricing, review invoicing, and maintain inventory.Excellent interpersonal skills for working with diverse groups including vendors, unit leads, and students; ability to handle interruptions.Knowledge or ability to learn computer applications (spreadsheets, databases, word processing, email, web-based apps).Knowledge or ability to learn merchandising and presentation techniques in food service.Ability to assign work, supervise student staff, and provide direction.Preferred Qualifications
