Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Med Surg Discipline : RN Start Date : 10 / 27 / 2025 Duration : 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, nights Employment Type : Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week night shift Med / Surg position in an acute care setting, requiring a WV or compact RN license and at least two years of experience. Responsibilities Work in a 52-bed, all private room Med / Surg unit within an acute care hospital setting Treat a diverse patient population including ortho and neuro post-ops, general post-ops, and patients with medical conditions like COPD, pneumonia, and cellulitis Staff-to-patient ratios are typically 1 : 6-7 for nurses and 1 : 10-12 for CNAs 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and holiday rotation Floating may be required to other Med / Surg or Oncology units, or to IMC for Med / Surg overflow Utilizes Allscripts - Sunrise EMR system Remote telemetry is used as needed, monitored on a different unit Drips managed include Heparin, PCAs, and occasional Ativan gtt, with no cardiac or insulin drips Equipment includes intermittent BiPAP, CPAP, and High Flow; hemodialysis is performed on the unit General hospital orientation is provided, followed by two full shifts of floor-specific orientation RN is not required to read telemetry strips, but may do so if experienced An in-house IV team starts all IVs; RNs assess patient IV sites but do not start IVs Support staff includes charge nurses with patient loads, CNAs, and access to in-house hospitalist, intensivist, pharmacy, respiratory therapy, and IV / PICC teams 24 / 7 Navy blue scrubs are required for RNs; no hoodies permitted Schedules are made every 6 weeks and staff may request up to 6 days off per schedule First-time travelers are welcome to apply Returning travelers and staff must adhere to WVU Medicine's rehire policies Requirements Active WV or compact RN license required Minimum of 2 years recent Med / Surg nursing experience Current BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required Experience with peritoneal dialysis is highly preferred Copy of an unexpired driver's license required for consideration Must not have worked within WVU Medicine in the past 2 years Not eligible if local within a 50-mile radius Travelers may not exceed one year of cumulative work within WVU Medicine without a two-year break Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-622835.
