Med / Surg RN Job Details

Location : Latrobe, PA 15650 (Westmoreland County)

Healthcare Setting : Medical-Surgical (Med / Surg) Unit

Position Type : Travel Registered Nurse (RN)

Contract Length : 13 weeks

Start Date : November 10, 2025

Shift : 3x12 hour shifts per week (12-hour day shifts)

Hours per Week : 36

Estimated weekly salary : $1630 - $1750

On-Site Nursing Position

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Pennsylvania or compact state

BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification – required before first shift

ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) Certification – required before first shift

Minimum 1 year of recent bedside clinical experience in a Med / Surg unit (2+ years preferred)

Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and communication skills

Experience with electronic health records (EHR) preferred

Med / Surg RN Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments for all patients within 8 hours of admission

Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams

Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the EHR

Participate in patient rehabilitation programs and discharge planning from admission

Communicate changes in patient status promptly to the healthcare team to ensure patient safety and continuity of care

Supervise and provide guidance to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and new staff

Promote patient and staff safety by adhering to hospital and healthcare policies and procedures

Foster a positive team environment and participate in unit-based team-building activities

Assume charge nurse responsibilities as assigned after orientation

Engage in ongoing professional development and continuing nursing education
