The Mechanical Engineering team at Form is responsible for designing the battery cell, module, and system enclosure that forms the foundation of our innovative utility-scale multi-day energy storage system. We strive to deliver designs that are optimized for performance, quality, reliability, and cost for high-volume manufacturing at Form Factory.

We're seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team and lead design efforts for crucial parts of our iron-air battery integrated structures. You'll bring components and assemblies from concept to into mass production, with a strong emphasis on structural design, weatherproofing, and manufacturability of metal enclosures.

What you'll do :

• Create white-page designs that will be the foundation of Form Energy’s Gen 2 product designs
• Perform hands-on prototyping of designs and collaborate with broader teams to build integrated prototypes
• Work with consulting companies, vendors, manufacturing engineers, and technical operations to transition designs from the prototype stage to high volume production
• Perform bench testing, hand calculations, and FEA to inform specs and future design direction
• Release designs consistent with company and team best practices (drawings, tolerance analysis, etc)
• Drive verification testing of your design work
• Perform failure root cause analysis on systems and assemblies
• Travel up to 20% to other Form Energy offices or vendor sites
