Digital Backbone Event Manager & Technical Coordinator – NATO ACTLocation : HQ SACT, Norfolk, VA

Clearance Requirement : Active NATO or National SECRET (or higher) security clearanceRole OverviewIronclad Defense Works (IDW) is seeking an experienced Digital Backbone Event Manager & Technical Coordinator to support NATO’s Allied Command Transformation (ACT) Digital Backbone Demonstration, Test, and Experimentation (DTE) initiatives. This role supports events such as DiBaX and CWIX, ensuring seamless integration of cutting-edge communications and digital technologies into NATO’s test and experimentation environment.
The successful candidate will combine technical expertise in communications systems with proven project and event management skills to plan, organize, and deliver complex, multinational demonstration and experimentation events that directly advance NATO’s capability development efforts.Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of Digital Backbone test and experimentation events (e.g., DiBaX, CWIX).
- Develop and manage detailed project and event plans, ensuring alignment with NATO’s strategic goals.
- Coordinate technical demonstrations, capability integrations, and multinational participation across NATO entities and partners.
- Define and refine event objectives, ensuring alignment with capability development and operational testing needs.
- Collaborate with industry and national partners to identify advanced technologies (e.g., 5G, NextGen communications) for inclusion in events.
- Oversee resource planning, security documentation, and risk management processes for event execution.
- Develop and maintain event-related materials including calling notices, project charters, design documents, and post-event reports.
- Support DOTMLPFI requirements derivation and post-event analysis to inform capability improvement.
- Coordinate VIP and observer engagements, manage participant registration, and oversee logistics and communications support.
- Work with NATO entities (HQ SACT, NCIA, ACO) to ensure interoperability and standardization across all event activities.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Business Management (Master’s preferred).5+ years of professional experience in technical event planning, project execution, or demonstration / test coordination.At least 3 years of experience with wireless communications, autonomous systems, or information service deployments.Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification.Experience with project management tools and methodologies.Strong understanding of military communications systems and NATO network technologies.Excellent organizational, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills.Eligible for and capable of maintaining an active NATO or National SECRET clearance.Desired Skills
Experience supporting military experimentation or large-scale technical demonstration events.Familiarity with DiBaX, CWIX, or similar NATO-led experimentation environments.Experience with advanced communication technologies (e.g., 5G, NextGen networks).Understanding of DOTMLPFI analysis and capability development frameworks.Proficiency with collaboration and event management tools (MS Project, SharePoint, Trello).Demonstrated ability to work across international and technical teams under tight deadlines.Application InstructionsApply directly through the posted job ad and link.
