Position : Pre-K Teacher

Classification : Part-Time to Full-Time

Reports to : Head of School

Lenawee Christian Ministries provides a Christ-centered education, spiritual development, and wellness services to the Lenawee County community, centered around Jesus Christ.

Position Summary :

The Pre-K Teacher supports the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of children aged 4–5 by delivering engaging, developmentally appropriate activities in a safe and nurturing environment. This role includes curriculum implementation, classroom management, and fostering positive relationships with children, families, and staff. This position will start as a 3-day per week assignment (M, W, F) with the potential to move to 5-day per week assignment (M-F) after one year.

Key Responsibilities :

Curriculum & Instruction

  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans aligned with early learning standards.
  • Provide a balance of teacher-led and child-initiated learning, incorporating literacy, numeracy, science, and social skills.
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners.

Classroom Management

  • Cultivate a warm, organized, and stimulating classroom atmosphere where children feel safe, supported, and eager to learn.
  • Set clear expectations for behavior and promote positive social-emotional development.
  • Provide leadership and direction to assistant teachers and volunteers in the classroom.
  • Assessment & Documentation

  • Conduct ongoing observations and formal assessments to track student progress.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and use data to inform instruction and individualized support.
  • Prepare individual developmental reports and participate in parent-teacher conferences.
  • Family & Staff Collaboration

  • Build strong relationships with parents through regular communication and updates.
  • Collaborate with teaching team and administrative staff to support student success.
  • Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development.
  • Qualifications : Christian Faith :

  • Profess and demonstrate a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
  • Adherence to Christian principles and values in both personal and professional life.
  • Educational Background :

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
  • Valid teaching certification (or eligibility) preferred.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
