Job Description

Position : Pre-K Teacher

Classification : Part-Time to Full-Time

Reports to : Head of School

Lenawee Christian Ministries provides a Christ-centered education, spiritual development, and wellness services to the Lenawee County community, centered around Jesus Christ.

Position Summary :

The Pre-K Teacher supports the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of children aged 4–5 by delivering engaging, developmentally appropriate activities in a safe and nurturing environment. This role includes curriculum implementation, classroom management, and fostering positive relationships with children, families, and staff. This position will start as a 3-day per week assignment (M, W, F) with the potential to move to 5-day per week assignment (M-F) after one year.

Key Responsibilities :

Curriculum & Instruction

Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans aligned with early learning standards.
Provide a balance of teacher-led and child-initiated learning, incorporating literacy, numeracy, science, and social skills.
Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners.

Classroom Management

Cultivate a warm, organized, and stimulating classroom atmosphere where children feel safe, supported, and eager to learn.

Set clear expectations for behavior and promote positive social-emotional development.

Provide leadership and direction to assistant teachers and volunteers in the classroom.

Assessment & Documentation

Conduct ongoing observations and formal assessments to track student progress.

Maintain accurate documentation and use data to inform instruction and individualized support.

Prepare individual developmental reports and participate in parent-teacher conferences.

Family & Staff Collaboration

Build strong relationships with parents through regular communication and updates.

Collaborate with teaching team and administrative staff to support student success.

Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development.

Qualifications : Christian Faith :

Profess and demonstrate a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Adherence to Christian principles and values in both personal and professional life.

Educational Background :

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field

Valid teaching certification (or eligibility) preferred.

Strong classroom management skills.

Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
