Conduct Safety Training Facilitate recurring safety training (e.g., PPE, fall protection, lockout / tagout, fire safety, etc.). Perform Regular Safety Inspections & Audits Identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are documented and followed up. Lead Incident Investigations Conduct root cause analyses and create incident reports. Recommend and track corrective actions. Monitor Regulatory Compliance Stay current on changes to regulations and implement necessary updates. Manage Safety Records and Documentation Prepare reports for internal leadership and external regulatory agencies as required. Oversee Hazard Communication and SDS Management Label hazardous materials properly and maintain compliance with HAZCOM standards. Coordinate Emergency Preparedness Conduct drills and train staff on proper procedures. Promote a Culture of Safety Encourage employee participation in hazard identification and reporting. Collaborate Across Departments Provide guidance during design and layout of modular workspaces to eliminate hazards. Education : High School Diploma or GED required. Associate or bachelor's degree in safety related field preferred. Experience : One year of experience in manufacturing, production or similar setting preferred. Experience coordinating or supporting environmental, health and safety (EHS) programs preferred. Certificates & Licenses : OSHA 30-Hour Certification (Construction or General Industry) - preferred. Other Requirements : Strong verbal and written communication skills. The ability to analyze incidents, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions. Proficiency with standard office software, such as MS Office Suite. Demonstrated ability work within a team, independently, and in collaboration with others. Ability to travel locally and regionally to attend meetings, visit sites, conferences, etc. as required. Job Summary
The Safety Coordinator oversees all safety programs and procedures within the modular manufacturing facility. Responsibilities include conducting inspections, leading incident investigations, facilitating training, and ensuring compliance with OSHA and other regulations. This role works cross-functionally to identify hazards, foster a strong safety culture, and drive continuous improvement in health and safety performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and Implement Safety Programs
Create and maintain site-specific safety policies and procedures tailored to modular construction / manufacturing.
Organize and deliver safety orientation for new hires.
Conduct routine inspections of workstations, equipment, tools, and modular units.
Respond to accidents, near-misses, and safety concerns.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, and other applicable standards.
Maintain accurate records of training, inspections, incidents, and corrective actions.
Ensure all Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are current and accessible.
Develop and test emergency response plans (fire, severe weather, chemical spill, etc.).
Lead toolbox talks, safety committees, and recognition programs.
Work closely with managers, HR, and maintenance technician to ensure safe work practices.
Primary Work Location : Romulus, MI
Requirements :
Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), or similar credential -preferred
Demonstrated ability to understand directions and read blueprints / shop drawings.
