The Quality Assurance Team Leader will plan, organize, execute, and monitor quality assurance activities for our assigned facility. This role involves helping to develop and implement quality and sanitation system policies to ensure that our incoming materials and finished goods meet both corporate specifications and regulatory requirements. You will monitor compliance with company procedures on the production floor and ensure thorough physical, chemical, and microbiological testing is completed. Your leadership will be essential in promoting a culture of food safety and quality while also preparing the site for internal and external inspections. Safety accountability (100% responsibility) for yourself and others is paramount.
Key Responsibilities :
Oversee product sampling, sanitation records, label compliance, and overall quality metrics.
Assist the Quality Manager with HACCP plans annually and as needed.
Administer and document environmental sampling programs and necessary reports.
Drive compliance with SQF standards, maintain records, and prepare for audits.
Procure and manage laboratory and sanitation supplies within the departmental budget.
Maintain up-to-date quality and sanitation manuals in line with corporate requirements.
Conduct quality and sanitation training for all plant personnel.
Support the Quality Manager in developing procedures for audits and inspections.
Lead internal quality assurance and sanitation assessments to ensure daily audit readiness.
Evaluate consumer complaints and implement corrective actions.
Coordinate storage and rework of quality control hold products.
Manage supplier reviews and maintain all related records.
Participate in quality assurance training across facilities.
Keep leadership informed about quality assurance issues affecting production.
Provide leadership and guidance to team members to enhance effectiveness and foster good interdepartmental relationships.
Collaborate closely with operations and maintenance teams to meet regulatory and corporate standards.
Create a teamwork-oriented environment that promotes accountability.
Provide backup support to the Quality Manager as assigned.
Qualifications :
A four-year degree is preferred.
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or Microbiology is preferred.
Minimum of three years of quality assurance supervisory experience in food manufacturing.
Experience with sanitation programs and continuous improvement methodologies is preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Adept at analyzing data to make timely and effective decisions.
Innovative problem-solving skills to address complex issues.
Ability to withstand pressure and respond urgently to situations as they arise.
Strong written and verbal communication skills suitable for all organizational levels.
Solid problem-solving abilities and skills in project management, multi-tasking, and prioritization.
Detail-oriented, organized, reliable, and resourceful.
Ability to thrive both independently and as part of a team.
