About Kimball, Tirey & St. John LLP

Kimball, Tirey & St. John LLP is an established real estate law firm with offices across California. Our San Diego office is looking for a Trial Attorney to join our fast‑paced team. If selected, you will litigate unlawful detainer actions in California state courts on behalf of property owners and managers.

Compensation

$125,000 - $175,000 / Annually, DOE

Responsibilities

Litigate unlawful detainer actions in California state courts on behalf of property owners and managers

Defend and conduct depositions

Provide legal advice through phone consultations, assessing facts and issues of each scenario and counseling clients accordingly

Respond to client questions and concerns to increase and retain business

Work with legal staff to prepare motions, pleadings, stipulations and other trial‑related court documents

Propound and respond to discovery, depositions, and motions

Qualifications

J.D. and active California Bar license

1 to 3 years of trial experience

Strong oral advocacy and writing skills

Knowledge of trial procedure, related motion work and evidentiary rules

Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and varying communication abilities

Must be willing to spend multiple days per week in court

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of unlawful detainer law

Jury trial experience

Contact with the rental housing industry

Schedule

Position is full‑time, exempt. Business hours : 8 : 30 am‑5 : 30 pm Monday‑Thursday, 8 : 30 am‑5 : 00 pm Friday. Hybrid work is available for select positions; onsite onboarding is required before transitioning to hybrid.
