Position Overview : The Phoenix Hebrew Academy seeks an enthusiastic and dedicated Middle School Humanities Teacher for the upcoming academic year. The ideal candidate will be passionate about teaching literature, writing, and history, and possess the ability to create engaging and thought-provoking lessons for students in grades 6-8. This position requires a commitment to fostering a dynamic classroom environment that promotes critical thinking, strong writing skills.

Responsibilities :

  • Implement a comprehensive and engaging humanities curriculum for middle school students (grades 6-8).
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods, including project-based learning, discussions, debates, and research activities, to foster active student participation and critical thinking.
  • Teach students to analyze primary and secondary sources, evaluate historical evidence, and construct well-reasoned arguments.
  • Develop students' writing skills across various genres, including essays, research papers, and creative writing.
  • Integrate relevant technology and digital resources into instruction to enhance learning.
  • Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments, providing timely and constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, administration, and parents to support student success.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Arizona teaching certification or eligibility for certification is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience teaching is preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in middle school education and adolescent development.
  • Strong understanding of historical periods, literary genres, and social studies concepts.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Proficiency in integrating technology into the classroom.
  • A passion for working with middle school students and inspiring a love of learning.
