Job Summary
This position will require staff to work closely with the Biorepository Staff in different operational areas such as consent, procurement, shipping and quality control and assurance. The candidate will be required to communicate with investigators, patients and VUMC personnel to obtain research material and appropriate documentation. The candidate will be trained in consent and then rotate through the other operational areas (shipping, solid tissue procurement, blood processing and quality control). The ideal candidate should possess excellent organization and time management skills.
Consent staff will be required to maintain accurate records and report consent numbers, quarterly to the VICC. Level 2 staff will be required to monitor junior consent staff, secondary check records and ensure compliance with all CHTN training materials. Level 2 staff will be required to complete Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification or the CTRNET Biorepository Course. Staff will be required to assist solid tissue procurement technicians in identifying patients suitable for fluid / tissue consent and collection meeting the investigator research criteria. Staff will work towards completing competency and proficiency testing in the following anatomic sites / diseases : Prostate, Kidney and Bladder cancer and diseases, including staging and grading.
Bachelor's degree in Biology (not Chemistry) and 1-2 years of lab experience (college or professional) is preferred.
