They analyze financial assets of targeted organizations or individuals, utilizing various investigative techniques and sources. The SFI requires a minimum of ten years of law enforcement experience in financial investigations, while the FI requires at least five years. Both roles require an undergraduate degree and working knowledge of current financial investigative techniques. Foreign language skills are preferred.
Responsibilities include developing forfeiture processes, analyzing financial records, identifying assets, maintaining case documentation, providing courtroom testimony, and supporting investigations with technical expertise. The roles involve extensive research using various databases and internet resources, including social media and cryptocurrency analysis, to trace illicit assets and support legal proceedings.
