NBA Consumer & Fan Insights Team Role
The NBA currently provides eligible employees the option of working remotely one day per week.
This is a temporary position with an expected duration not to exceed (10) months.
Within the Consumer & Fan Insights Team, this role would be responsible for supporting the Strategic Initiatives Insights Lead in influencing data-driven decision making across key stakeholder departments at the league (Marketing, DTC, Content, Global Partnerships, Basketball Strategy) as well as NBA teams. This role will be expected to utilize a breadth of data resources (first party data, social listening, digital analytics, syndicated tools, etc.) to answer strategic business questions. This role should be familiar with key trends across the sports and entertainment industry and the evolving digital landscape. A successful candidate will build relationships across departments and effectively communicate data / research outcomes to stakeholders.
Major Responsibilities
- Support strategic initiatives across the league with fan data and insights
- Leverage the NBA's first-party database to uncover insights and develop fan-driven stories that impact business decisions
- Help bridge the gap between first- and third-party data sources by supporting data appends, fusion studies, etc.
- Help manage requests for social listening insights across the organization
- Run always on social listening support on key team-related issues (e.g., international growth, brand insights, partner insights)
- Be an expert in behavioral datasets including first-party digital analytics, search / social data, and syndicated platforms (e.g., Comscore, SimilaWeb, SensorTower, etc.) to address key business questions
- Support the design, execution, analysis, interpretation and reporting of primary market research studies
- Help support, develop, and maintain insights dashboards using data visualization tools to help concisely summarize, visualize and build compelling storylines with data
- Work closely with counterparts on Data Strategy & Analytics to find synergies and turn first-party data into actionable insights
- Support the design of questionnaires, program / script surveys, analyze and create reports that draw out meaningful insights to help inform strategic decisions
- Help manage relationships with research agencies
- Visualize and story-tell with data to articulate narratives around NBA fans
- Present insights to stakeholders across business units
- Distribute regular and ad hoc reports with actionable insights in response to requests for research using robust data sets
- Provide fan and market insights utilizing both first party data sources and syndicated resources including MRI / Simmons, YouGov, Global Web Index and other third-party data sources available.
Required Education / Professional Experience
Bachelor's degree required3+ years of experience in market research, consumer insights, digital analytics, data science or a related fieldRequired Skills / Knowledge Attributes
