General Function :
The Private Swim Instructor serves members though Private Swimming sessions. S / he builds relationships with members and program participants through effective and positive customer service while providing a safe instructional environment.
Essential duties :
Private Swim Instruction :
- Develops Swim programs / lessons that are specifically tailored to the members’ goals and physical limitations
- Follows developmentally appropriate teaching methods and recommended guidelines
- Keeps accurate recording of client information such as planned sessions, payments etc.
General :
Engages all members / participants in a professional and courteous manner :Greet / say hello and goodbye to all participants in the aquatics area and learn members names and call them by their namesListen and be accessible to all members for questions and commentsFollow-up as neededEngages members on new classes, new changes, etc.Maintains proper functioning / cleanliness and / or report malfunctioning of Water area / equipment to supervisorRedirects members on cell phones to front lobbyAdheres and incorporate the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility and educates members about the YMCA mission and goalsComplies with all Somerset Hills YMCA Policies and ProceduresAttends trainings, seminars and meetings as requiredOther duties :
Arrives to work five (5) minutes before shift startsWear appropriate and professional uniform / attireAll other duties as assignedRequirements :
Required knowledge / experience :
Has 1+ experience in teaching Swim LessonsProven track-record in attracting and retaining new clients / participantsRequired education / certifications :
HS diploma or equivalentYSL and / or WSI certificationCurrent Blood borne Pathogens certificationSH YMCA Child Abuse Prevention Training within 30 days of hireSH YMCA New Staff Orientation Training within 90 days of hireRequired core competencies :
