The ECMO ICU RN is competent in all mechanical circulatory devices including percutaneous and implantable ventricular assist devices, intra-aortic balloon pumps, continuous renal replacement therapy and ECMO. ECMO ICU Patient Population : All ECLS patients receiving VA, VV, VP, VA-V, RVAD and ECPR therapies. Disease processes including but not limited to postcardiotomy syndrome, cardiogenic shock, advanced heart failure, pre and post heart / lung transplant, ARDS, and post cardiac arrest. Patient Ratios : 1 : 1 RN to ECMO patient ratio alongside an ECMO Specialist to pump ratio 1 : 3 Department Specifics : 10 dedicated ECMO beds located inside CTTICU, dedicated ICU physicians and ACNP coverage 24 / 7, 100% certification rate (CCRN, CSC), multiple research trials and publications, and 1 of 2 NTX ECMO programs with ECMO Specialist RN led transport teams. Registered Nurse Requirements Graduate of an Accredited Nursing Program License / Certification RN – Registered Nurse min 1-year CVICU or SICU experience BLS – Basic Life Support (required within 30 days of hire) ACLS- American Heart Association CCRN – through AACN (required within 6 months of hire) Baylor Scott & White Health is the most awarded system in Texas!
