General information about the unit includes a total of 21 beds with current census around 8-12 patients.
The staffing for day shift typically includes 1 charge nurse, 3 to 4 RNs, and 1 patient care technician.
The night shift consists of 1 charge nurse, 3 to 4 RNs, and 1 patient care technician.
Patient ratios are estimated to be 1 : 3 to 4, with a possibility of flexing to 5 in certain circumstances.
Equipment used on the unit includes Baxter pumps and the EMR system is Meditech.
Typical hiring profile focuses on candidates with experience in oncology.
Candidates without an oncology background will not be considered for the role.
Preferred skills include a hematology-oncology background and chemotherapy certification.
Typical procedures performed on the unit include replacing blood and electrolytes.
