American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Tele position requiring strong Med / Tele skills and a current NC or compact RN license.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work on a Med / Surg Tele unit in a large hospital with Level I trauma and teaching designationSpecializes in head / neck and GI surgeries including tracheostomies, laryngectomies, hernia repairs, colorectal surgeries, and medical overflow patientsPatient ratio is typically 1 : 4-6, may increase to 1 : 7-8 during surge staffingEvery other weekend rotation is requiredNo on-call responsibilities for travelersRequires floating to Region 3 facilities : Cleveland, Kings Mountain, Lincoln, and the Central DivisionEMR system is Epic; nurses are required to read and respond to telemetry monitorsUses Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitorsPrimary responsibilities include caring for post-surgical and medical overflow patients with head / neck and GI conditionsSupport staff includes CNAs, unit receptionist, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV / VAT team, resource nurse, RT, hospitalist, and intensivist, all available 24 / 7Travelers are expected to work at least 75% of assigned holidaysA maximum of 6 days off may be approved, excluding holidays, with any deficits added to the end of the contractNavy scrubs are requiredFree parking is providedFirst-time travelers will be considered but are not preferred\n \n Requirements\n
Active NC or compact RN license requiredMinimum 2 years of Med / Tele RN experience requiredBLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications requiredStrong Med / Surg Tele skills including stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, IV and PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, and drain / tube managementExperience managing medication drips including cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, and IV fluidsMust reside at least 50 miles from the home unitEpic charting experience preferred\n Benefits\n
