    Job Description :

    \nWe are seeking an experienced Certified Surgical Tech specialized in Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) to join the team at HCA Florida JFK Hospital. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in complex open-heart procedures including CABG, LVAD placement, Aortic and Mitral Valve replacements, ECMO support, Aortic Dissections, and Elephant Trunk procedures.

    You will work within a dynamic cardiac surgery unit featuring two dedicated open-heart operating rooms and one hybrid room. Your responsibilities will include assisting in high-acuity cardiovascular surgeries, ensuring sterile technique, preparing operating rooms, and supporting the surgical team to deliver exceptional patient care.

    Unit Information : \n \n

  • Number of Beds : 2 Open Heart Rooms & 1 Hybrid Room\n
  • Staffing : 1 Charge RN, 5 RNs, 2 Scrub Techs\n
  • Patient Ratios : 1 : 1 during procedures\n
  • Documentation System : Meditech\n
  • Call Requirements : Evenings, weekends, and holidays; on-call shifts required\n
  • Shift Details : \n \n
  • Day Shift : 6 : 00 AM – 4 : 30 PM, includes on-call evenings, weekends, and holidays\n
  • Night Shift : On-call only\n

    Responsibilities : \n \n

  • Assist in complex cardiovascular surgeries with proficiency in open-heart procedures\n
  • Maintain sterile field and instrumentation for procedures such as CABG, LVAD, Valve replacements, ECMO, and dissection repairs\n
  • Prepare and organize surgical tools and equipment for high-stakes cardiac surgeries\n
  • Document procedures accurately in Meditech system\n
  • Respond promptly to call shifts during evenings, weekends, and holidays\n

    What You Bring : \n \n

  • Proven experience working in cardiovascular OR settings, preferably within cardiac surgery teams performing complex cases\n
  • Ability to efficiently assist with high-acuity procedures, demonstrating calmness and focus under pressure\n
  • Strong understanding of sterile techniques, surgical instrumentation, and post-operative care procedures\n
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with surgical and nursing teams\n
  • Flexibility to adapt to fast-paced, high-stakes environment with minimal supervision\n
  • Punctuality and dependable response to call shifts within a 30-minute radius of the hospital\n

    Preferred Education & Experience :

    \n \n

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Surgical Tech in a cardiac surgery setting\n
  • Prior travel assignment experience working with heart teams performing similar cases\n
  • Familiarity with hybrid OR environments and advanced cardiovascular equipment and procedures\n
