The Department of English at Beloit College in Beloit, Wisconsin, invites applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant or Associate Professor of Creative Writing & Journalism beginning in Fall of 2026. We seek a published creative writer and journalist with experience teaching in both fields. The typical teaching load is 3 / 3 and will include an advisory role with the Round Table , our student newspaper. Courses include a multi-genre introduction to creative writing (fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction), introduction to journalism, and upper-level courses in both fields. Tertiary interests may include creative nonfiction, American literature, expository writing, and media studies.

Beloit College has a long and distinctive history in the field of creative writing, including an annual visiting Mackey Chair in creative writing and the Beloit Fiction Journal . Creative writing class sizes are small (cap 15) and students are engaged. The successful candidate will have the freedom to design courses to their strengths and interests and will contribute to Beloit's School of Media and the Arts. The college also offers a media studies major and a journalism minor, including both introductory and advanced writing and multi-media offerings. The Round Table has been published at the college since the 1850s.

Qualifications : Ph.D. or MFA in English, Creative Writing, or appropriate field. ABD candidates considered. Teaching experience, professional journalism experience, and publications are required.
