UPMC Shadyside is hiring a Full-Time Patient & Family Concierge to join their team in the Hematology / Oncology unit 7 Main!
Shift / Schedule : Three 12-hour shifts per week (6 : 30 AM 7 : 00 PM), with alternating weekdays and every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) required.
About the Unit & Position :
7 Main is a 27-bed hematology-oncology unit specializing in the treatment of leukemia. The length of stay is long for most patients on 7 Main, so we have a family resource lounge and rehab equipment directly on the unit. RNs provide chemotherapy administration on 7 Main; therefore, ease of communication is a key skill required by both nurses and nursing support staff.
Provide compassionate, personalized support to patients, families, and visitors. Duties include coordinating patient / visitor destinations, assisting with environmental and dietary services, transporting patients and equipment, managing supplies, and performing administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities :
- Destination Coordination : Greet and assist patients and visitors with directions, escorting, parking validation, scooter issuance, and patient belongings tracking while maintaining confidentiality.
- Environmental Services : Clean and organize patient rooms, common areas, and equipment; replenish supplies; make beds and report maintenance issues.
- Dietary Services : Assemble and deliver meals per dietary orders, maintain food safety, and follow sanitation guidelines.
- Transportation : Safely transport patients, equipment, and specimens between units; disinfect transport equipment; maintain accurate records.
- Supply & Equipment Management : Order, stock, and deliver supplies and equipment; monitor expiration dates and refrigerator temperatures; inventory medical devices.
- Administrative Support : Coordinate tests and transports, manage patient charts and documentation, answer phones, update bedboards, order supplies, and complete audits.
- General Duties : Respond to call lights, interact with patients, promote mobility, maintain resource materials, and adhere to infection control and safety protocols.
- Exhibit UPMC values and experience behaviors (AIDET, The Promise, 10-5 Rule, Own Your Zone) in all duties. Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications :
Genuine desire, drive, and compassion to consistently deliver exceptional patient and family experiencesHigh school diploma or GED; OR one year of relevant work experience in lieu of diplomaMinimum 6 months' experience as a Patient & Family Concierge or equivalent roleProven competency in all Patient & Family Concierge responsibilitiesInternal promotions depend on business unit assessment of performanceCompletion of at least one annual contribution such as hospital / department committee participation, project involvement, peer interviewing, or onboarding / precepting of other Experience ConciergesAbility to follow written and verbal instructionsLicensure, Certifications, and Clearances :
