The Security Associate plays a critical role in supporting the safety and security of company personnel, facilities, and executive leadership. Reporting to the Security Manager, this position is responsible for maintaining a secure and controlled environment through vigilant access control and facility monitoring. The Security Manager serves as the primary lead for Executive Protection (EP), while the Security Associate supplements protection efforts during large-scale events and serves as backup in the Manager's absence. In addition to security support functions, the Security Associate holds primary responsibility for managing day-to-day access control operations and overseeing the physical security of the company's facilities.
Responsibilities
Executive Protection Support
- Assist the Security Manager with Executive Protection responsibilities as needed
- Supplement protection details during events requiring additional personnel
- Serve as Executive Protection coverage when the Security Manager is unavailable
- Support travel advance planning, including route planning, venue reviews, and logistical coordination
- Maintain situational awareness and report any intelligence relevant to executive safety
- Provide secure transportation for principal owners, their family members, and senior-level executives as directed
- Maintain a high level of professionalism, discretion, and route familiarity while operating company or rental vehicles
- Ensure vehicles are fueled, maintained, and ready for immediate use for executive transport needs
Access Control and Facility Security (Primary Responsibility)
Serve as the lead for all access control operations at company facilitiesMonitor employee access to company facilities and visitor entry through reception areasEnsure that all individuals entering the facility are properly identified and authorizedManage and maintain access control systems, including electronic badge systems and visitor logsIssue, collect, and audit security credentials, ID badges, and keycardsEnforce visitor management protocols, including sign-in / sign-out procedures, escort policies, and temporary badge issuanceConduct routine inspections of doors, gates, access points, and security hardware to ensure they are functioning and secureRespond to unauthorized access attempts, system alarms, and other facility-related incidentsMaintain logs of all access control and security incidents, ensuring timely and accurate reportingCoordinate with facilities management on physical security upgrades, repairs, or procedural improvementsConduct periodic audits to ensure readiness and compliance with internal policiesGeneral Security Duties
Conduct assessments of the interior and exterior of company facilities to detect and respond to security or safety concernsAssist in developing and updating company security polices, emergency response plans and internal standard operating proceduresCollaborate with law enforcement, fire department, and emergency responders when necessaryPrepare clear and concise reports of incidents, suspicious activity, and daily operationsQualifications
Minimum of three years of experience in corporate security, law enforcement, military, or a related field.Legally authorized to carry a firearm in the State of Michigan; valid Concealed Pistol License (CPL) requiredDocumented firearms training with regular qualification and responsible firearm handlingValid driver's license with a clean driving recordPhysically able to stand / walk for long periods of time, and respond quickly during emergency situationsAvailability to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidaysProfessional, discreet, and able to maintain confidentialityProficiency with security technology, including surveillance systems, access control platforms, and communications toolsCPR and First Aid certification preferredPreferred Qualifications
