PART I - General Job / Performance Information
Education and Experience
A nursing student who has completed approximately one quarter of their nursing curriculum (LVN or RN) and clinical experience.
Or applicant has completed Nurse Aide course and presents Nurse Aide Certification.
Or applicant has at least one year of previous / recent hospital Nurse Aide experience.
Environmental / Working Conditions
Works inside. Hours of duty may be irregular covering various shifts. Exposure to blood borne pathogens is of high risk.
Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
o This position requires close interaction with other ancillary departments in order to facilitate a quality multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.
Job Description
The Nursing Assistant will perform tasks which involve specified services for patients delegated by a Licensed Nurse.
Required Licensures / Certifications / Registrations
Nurse Aide Certification preferred.
Physical Capabilities
Work is of medium demand. Standing, walking most of the time on duty. Lifting and pushing patients, carts and wheelchairs. Good tactile sensation necessary for checking patients. Talking and hearing to converse with patients and staff members. Near visual acuity for accurate reading of gaugesand thermometers and for recording on patients' charts.
Skills and Abilities
The Nurse Aide Technical Procedure Privileging Form details procedures the employee is expected to perform and must be completed by the end of the 3-month probationary period. Age specific knowledge is required when needed for appropriate patient care.
