Walters Buildings, a leading family-owned post frame construction company based in the Midwest, is seeking a strategic, self-motivated and hardworking Business Development Manager to join our team at our corporate headquarters in Allenton, WI . Position Summary

Reporting directly to the President, the Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for driving growth in dealer sales at Walters Buildings. This role focuses on identifying, recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding prospective dealers, while also nurturing relationships with existing dealer partners. The BDM ensures that all dealer-led projects meet quality expectations and align with Walters Buildings’ standards, ultimately protecting and promoting the company’s brand and reputation.

Duties / Responsibilities :

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all‑inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Recruit new dealers through personal marketing in conjunction with support from the corporate office marketing team.
  • Schedule and conduct meetings with potential dealers to evaluate their needs, desires and vision, while highlighting the benefits of building “The Walters Way”.
  • Onboard prospective dealers and help them learn how to navigate Walters Buildings.
  • Serve as the liaison between the dealers and the corporate office.
  • Work with the dealer to generate a price, proposal / contract and preliminary drawings through CADMAP 3D.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of dealer orders and contractual paperwork between the dealers and Walters Buildings.
  • Communicate building standards and construction procedures to the dealers. Educate the dealers on best practice.
  • Conduct random jobsite audits to ensure existing dealers are building a quality building.
  • Complete ongoing training to ensure understanding and proper application of sales and project management methods / techniques, as well as safety and construction procedures, methods, and standards.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • Demonstrated strength in customer service, consultative sales, and conflict resolution.
  • Results-driven and self-motivated, with a strong sense of initiative and accountability.
  • Proven ability to maintain customer confidentiality and uphold professional integrity.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude, including accurate measurement, documentation, and aggregation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and other common business software.
  • Working Environment and Physical Demands :

  • Frequent travel (50%+) to dealer locations throughout the Midwest is required.
  • Regular exposure to driving conditions, active construction sites, and varying weather conditions year-round.
  • Occasional work performed in a traditional office environment.
  • Education and Experience :

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Postsecondary education in business, communication or construction management or related field preferred.
  • 5-10 years of construction, sales or related field preferred.
  • Technical knowledge and / or experience in the construction industry preferred.
