Job Description

About Aurora Payments

Aurora Payments is a leading financial service provider specializing in payment processing technology. Founded in 2005 and headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada, we've grown to capture a substantial portion of the U.S. market share across various service industries. Our portfolio includes more than 27,000 merchants, processing $12 billion annually

At Aurora Payments, we pride ourselves on our culture of innovation and partnership, working closely with clients to create tailored solutions that consolidate customer tools into a single, easy-to-use platform.

About this Role

As the Lead Product Designer on Aurora’s Merchant Management team, you’ll shape how merchants, agents, Saas partners and Aurora staff manage their businesses within Aurora’s platform. This is a critical, high-impact role : you’ll be the first dedicated designer for this team, laying the foundations for a platform that accelerates time-to-value for merchants, streamlines operations for agents, and makes Aurora the easiest payments partner for software vendors to work with.

This is a role for a designer who thrives on complexity. You’ll work shoulder-to-shoulder with product and engineering peers who move quickly, while joining a design org that values taste, systems thinking, and customer impact. Success here isn’t just measured in pixels shipped—it’s measured in adoption, speed, usability, and the durability of the design foundations you establish across Aurora’s products.

What You'll Do

  • Own the experience of Aurora’s Merchant Management Platform : Lead the end-to-end design for workflows that help merchants, agents, and partners manage activation, product enablement, and daily operations.
  • Design world-class onboarding and activation experiences : Craft first-use and growth experiences that make getting started radically simple while scaling to thousands of merchants.
  • Stay close to customers : Conduct research with merchants, agents, and software partners to uncover where workflows break down, and transform those insights into design priorities that move the business.
  • Build systems, not just screens : Create reusable patterns, frameworks, and visual systems that scale across Aurora’s product suite, ensuring coherence and efficiency for both customers and internal teams.
  • Shape long-term design vision : Partner with product and engineering leaders to evolve the product roadmap, refine brand and design guidelines, and continuously improve internal collaboration practices.
  • Be a multiplier : Help build the design team, establish design rituals, mentor peers / direct reports, and raise the bar for craft, execution, and customer-centric thinking.

About You

  • Experience & Impact : 8+ years of end-to-end product design experience, with a portfolio of complex, high-impact products delivered from initial concept through iteration and delivery.
  • Craft & Taste : Strong eye for both interaction design and visual design, with the ability to produce clear specifications and contribute to a design system at scale.
  • Communicator & Storyteller : Excellent at articulating design decisions, aligning stakeholders, and inspiring confidence across product, engineering, and business teams.
  • Customer Obsessed : Habit of uncovering real user behaviors, surfacing pain points, and designing solutions that solve meaningful problems.
  • Bias for Action : Comfort with ambiguity and fast-moving environments; a record of unblocking dependencies, iterating quickly, and driving initiatives with minimal oversight.
  • Systems Thinker : Ability to simplify complexity and design within challenging domains such as fintech, compliance, or multi-sided marketplaces.
  • Domain Fluency : Experience in payments technology or merchant services, working with the complexity of payment processing systems, compliance, and partner / agent ecosystems.
  • Benefits

  • Medical, Dental, Vision
  • Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, Life
  • Paid Holidays
  • PTO
  • 401k
  • This will be a remote role.
