Description : Position Summary
The Buyer / Purchasing Agent provides parts, equipment, and materials by developing sources of supply and monitoring supplier performance, obtaining required parts, equipment, and materials, verifying receipt of items, authorizing payment, and managing and controlling inventory, while adhering to customer specifications (customer mandated suppliers), government specifications (ITAR and EAR regulations), and AS9100 Standards.
Essential Functions
- Critically assesses suppliers, products, and services.
- Qualifies supplier base as well as outside processing suppliers.
- Builds and maintains positive, long-term supplier relationships.
- Issues requests for quotes (RFQ’s) and selects best source consistent with cost, quality, delivery requirements, and supplier reliability.
- Completes purchase requests with suppliers by inputting purchase orders and ensuring items are delivered as promised, expediting deliveries as necessary, and verifying and monitoring all transactions. Final responsibility for all material and production supply purchases.
- Handles over-shipments, delivery shortages, changes in quantity, and delivery dates (current and past due), and reports changes and / or issues to appropriate Managers and personnel in a timely manner.
- Acts as a liaison between suppliers and involved Departments to resolve procurement-related problems.
- Monitors and maintains appropriate inventory levels consistent with targeted inventory goals and as set by management.
- Monitors and manages Tooling Supply Agreement, acts as the point of contact for AIT personnel.
- Monitors and maintains inventory level for all internal office and Company supplies.
- Monitors supplier performance by ensuring product is delivered as scheduled and meets specifications; maintains Approved Supplier List; and maintains appropriate files and records of meetings with suppliers to ensure Company requirements are met and suppliers are aware of their performance.
- Confers with suppliers and vendors; monitors service agreements and / or contracts to ensure terms are met.
- May create, revise, or finalize Work Instructions, Policies, and Procedures.
- Responsible for stopping production if a part or process problem is identified and notifying Manager or Quality personnel.
- Responsible for identification and elimination of any unnecessary waste.
- Participates in and supports the Company Quality System and all Environmental, Health, and Safety policies.
- Responsible for adhering to, following, and understanding the Company Quality Policy, Quality Work Instructions, Policies, and Procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements :
Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Prior administrative experience (intermediate level).MRP knowledge, A PLUS if you have at least 2 years’ experience in aerospace manufacturing.Strong negotiation, organization, and planning skills. With high attention to detail.Made2Manage ERP experience a PLUS!Knowledge of metal bar stock, casting suppliers, plating, and heat-treating processes.Strong interpersonal skills, high level of integrity.Good analytical and critical thinking skills; active listening and deductive reasoning.Intermediate presentation and reporting skills.Intermediate to advanced computer skills. Proficient with MS Office suite and other manufacturing and work-related software.Capable of working on an on-site, full-time schedule.Ability to communicate effectively, efficiently, and in a business- oriented / professional manner, in writing and verbally, with customers, vendors, and co-workers.Ability to take direction well and follow verbal and written instructions.Ability to maintain a positive Company image and brand, both at and outside of the work environment.Ability to work with multiple deadlines and commitments with little or no supervision; ability and flexibility to prioritize tasks; strong time management skills.Supervisory Responsibilities

Education & Legal Requirements
High School Diploma / GED, College Degree preferred and / or sufficient work experience.Must meet International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements, with the ability to present acceptable, original documents to prove identity and authorization to work.Physical Demands & Work Environment
Work will involve spending long hours sitting and using office equipment.While performing duties of this position, the Employee is frequently required to stand (for moderate to long periods of time), walk, use hands to finger / handle / feel objects, and reach with hands and arms. Other frequent activities include but are not limited to push / pull of objects, bending, kneeling, lifting, climbing, balancing, stooping, and twisting (torso).Work may involve lifting materials and products up to 50 pounds.If in the manufacturing environment, it requires the use of safety equipment to include, but not limited to safety glasses, safety shoes / boots, and gloves. Loose-fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
