The Design Lab Monitor in Visual & Performing Arts is responsible for ensuring the security and organization of the lab while providing basic technical support to students. In addition to overseeing lab operations, the student may be asked to assist with social media marketing, design tasks, and other creative projects. This position is ideal for students with a foundation in graphic design, digital media, or marketing, and offers a unique opportunity to develop both technical and creative skills in a professional setting.
JOB DUTIES
Monitor lab activity to ensure appropriate use of space, equipment, and software.
Check in / out designated equipment (e.g., cameras, drawing tablets, external drives) following department protocols.
Enforce lab policies and maintain a respectful, productive atmosphere; interface with campus Security and Facilities teams, as needed.
Report any technical issues, damage, or security concerns to the Department Chair or Director of Production Operations promptly.
Keep workstations organized and assist in minor cleaning or resetting of the lab space.
Post occasional departmental updates, reminders, and relevant content on departmental social media (Facebook, Instagram, etc.).
Assist with design and marketing projects, including content creation, graphics, and promotional materials.
Work on creative projects related to the department's promotional needs or ongoing events.
Maintain a log of lab use and equipment checkout activity.
Assist the Department Chair and Director of Program Operations with additional operational duties as assigned
Take responsibility for timesheet, time off, tracking hours, and making adjustments in the schedule, as per work study allotment, communicating with Department Chair any schedule changes
Note : hours will generally be afternoons / evenings, but may vary depending on departmental needs
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to develop and implement work plans
Strong sense of responsibility, reliability, and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently in a quiet setting, communicate effectively, and maintain a professional demeanor.
Proficient in Microsoft Suite and Google applications
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Flexibility and a positive attitude
Willingness to ask for help and problem solve
Ability to stand or sit for long periods, ability to life 25 pounds
Preferred Qualifications
Enrolled in a program related to Graphic Design, Digital Media, Marketing, or Communications.
Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.) and Mac OS environment.
Basic knowledge of social media platforms and marketing communication is a plus.
Creativity and interest in assisting with visual design and content creation for promotional materials.

Must have completed FAFSA on file
Must be enrolled in a minimum six (6) credit hours
Must NOT have yet obtained 1st Bachelor's Degree
Must be seeking an eligible program of study
