Position overview : An entry-level Civil Engineer to join the Civil / Environmental Team in Evansville, IN. The selected candidate will assist with the planning, design, and construction phase services for wastewater, potable water, and stormwater infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
- Performs design tasks including computations and analysis for municipal infrastructure including water and wastewater treatment plants, sanitary sewers, lift stations, water distribution, and stormwater facilities.
- Applies engineering principles to develop solutions and evaluate performance and life cycle cost of municipal infrastructure improvements.
- Creates drawings and models following the company's design standards and using CAD or modeling software with limited guidance.
- Assists with the preparation of reports, plans, specifications, cost estimates, supporting documents and permit applications.
- Assists with construction phase services for water and wastewater treatment facilities and for sanitary sewer, potable water, and storm sewer infrastructure projects.
- Interprets construction plans and documents for the contractor and client; interfaces with operators regarding potential interference with operations.
- Assists with review of shop drawings, submittals, change orders, punch lists, and contractor as-builts.
- Maintains project documentation, daily reports of construction site activity, project files, RFIs, and submittals.
- Participates in progress meetings and assists in equipment startup and project close-out.
- Drafts correspondence and reports; communicates effectively with project stakeholders.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
B.S. degree in Civil / Environmental Engineering; EIT is desired.Coursework and / or experience (internship or co-op) in hydraulics with emphasis on wastewater treatment, water treatment, water distribution, or stormwater modeling.Ability to accurately perform calculations to support detailed design recommendations.Good communication skills with the ability to write technical reports and participate in project meetings.Ability to collaborate effectively with other team members from multiple offices.Experience with AutoCAD (Civil3D), WaterCAD, SWMM, GIS is desired.Experience in hydrologic / hydraulic analysis software (e.g., HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, HEC-GeoRAS, XP-SWMM, Biowin) is desired.Valid driver's license is required.Compensation & Benefits
