Description :

General information about the unit includes a total of 11 labor beds, 2 triage beds, and 2 ORs.

The patient ratio is 1 : 1 for laboring patients and 3 : 1 for couplets.

Unit staffing includes birth registrars and surgical OR techs.

The equipment used includes wireless fetal monitoring and GE fetal monitoring.

Documentation is done in Meditech and CPN.

Staff is required to work every third weekend and may float to sister facilities for labor and delivery or postpartum care.

Patient experience requirements include bedside report and safety rounding.

The unit is certified in burn and trauma care.

Fetal monitor interpretation

High-risk antepartum care

Active labor management

C-section circulation

Post-partum care

Circumcision assist procedures

Bili light care

Lab draws from mother and baby

Magnesium administration for pre-eclamptic patients

Advanced skills needed include NRP and BLS.

Procedures performed on the unit include C-section, circumcision, vaginal deliveries, antepartum testing, and ultrasounds.

The required uniform is navy.

Unit guidelines and policies should be reviewed by candidates.

Awards and recognition include contributions to unit-based councils and achievements such as the Daisy Award.

The unit promotes a family-oriented atmosphere and teamwork.

A self-scheduling platform is available for staff.
