Job Summary

  • This role is responsible for ensuring product compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards throughout the entire product lifecycle.
  • Lead the development and execution of safety and quality strategies, interpret and apply relevant standards to ensure compliance with North American regulations, work closely with certification agencies, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate compliance and quality requirements into product design and manufacturing processes.
  • Support product launches, aftermarket services, and customer feedback resolution, ensuring that safety, regulatory, and quality considerations are consistently addressed and integrated across the organization.
  • Represent Midea in interactions with regulatory and government agencies; participate in industry organizations and working groups (e.g., AHAM, DOE, HVI); monitor and assess the impact of emerging regulations and communicate findings across the organization.
  • Research and interpret federal and state regulatory requirements and communicate key compliance needs to design teams in the U.S. and overseas; plan and execute field testing and product launch activities to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Review overall product compliance, including literature, packaging, and rating labels, to verify conformity with applicable agencies and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead product quality investigations by analyzing customer complaints, identifying root causes, and coordinating with factories, engineering, legal, and agency teams to implement effective resolutions.
  • Document and track product incidents and quality issues, ensuring proper reporting, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead cross-functional meetings, present findings, and facilitate collaborative problem-solving. Maintain professional writing for compliance documentation, customer communications, and internal training materials to ensure alignment across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of industry experience in a similar role.
  • Experience working with government agencies and conducting investigations in coordination with law firms and agencies such as CPSC, FDA, DOE, etc.
  • Preferred experience as a current or former member of AHAM, HVI, UL, or CSA working groups, with familiarity in cooking appliance design, test procedures, and standards.
  • Strong background in detailed component and system design within cooking appliances.
  • Experience with both gas and electric home cooking appliances (e.g., ranges, wall ovens, microwave ovens) is highly desirable.
  • Experience conducting comprehensive risk assessments in product development and operations using methodologies such as FMEA, Fault Tree Analysis, and Hazard Analysis.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences; skilled in preparing detailed reports, regulatory documentation, and safety analyses.
  • Willingness to travel : up to 25% domestic and up to 15% international.
