Required Qualifications : A bachelor’s degree and related experience is required. Experience in supervision, coaching, or staff development is also required.
Preferred Qualifications : Experience working in higher education or student services and experience developing and maintaining information repositories, FAQs, or knowledge bases is preferred. Demonstrated experience writing in Associated Press (AP) style strongly preferred. Experience in supervising professional and student staff also preferred.
Duties include, but are not limited to :
Public Information Director I (BC30 / 61122630 / FTE-S01092P), full-time position with benefits. SC State Pay Band : 06. Salary Range : $64,000.00 to $67,000.00. Normal work hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 : 00 a.m. to 5 : 00 p.m. and Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. to 12 : 30 p.m. May be required to work occasional nights and weekends and could require limited travel. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university.

Demonstrated success in building campus partnerships and leading collaborative projects will be strongly considered. Advanced data analysis and reporting skills (including use of visualization tools). Proven skills in analyzing qualitative and quantitative data, identifying trends, and translating findings into actionable insights. Excellent organizational ability, strong problem-solving skills, and proficiency with digital communication tools, social media platforms, and standard office software are essential. A commitment to outstanding customer service and to fostering an inclusive, student-centered environment is expected. Ability to step in and assist with operations when needed to ensure service continuity. Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to prepare both executive-level reports and clear student-facing resources. Must bring strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills to oversee staff and ensure high-quality service delivery. This role requires the ability to produce executive-level reports, create and maintain FAQs and templates, and translate complex policies into clear, student-friendly resources. Providing operational support when needed and exercising sound judgment in a fast-paced environment is essential. A successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in data analysis, including identifying themes and trends to inform decision-making, and will be skilled in presenting findings to leadership in concise, actionable formats. Proficiency in project management, outreach, and digital communication tools is required, along with the ability to foster collaboration, adapt to changing priorities, and promote an inclusive, student-centered environment.
