Public Health Division, Southwest Region is comprised of eight counties and works to promote health and wellness, improve health outcomes, and assure safety net services for all people in New Mexico.
Why does the job exist?
This position will plan, organize, and implement comprehensive activities to increase immunization levels of children and adults in the state of New Mexico. Provide positive reinforcement and continued education to decrease vaccine preventable diseases, by partnering with and monitoring of Vaccines for Children (VFC) providers and Adult 317 vaccine providers to include public health offices, private medical offices, and school sites. Facilitate standardized immunization training and instruction or data entry requirements into New Mexico Statewide Immunization Information System (NMSIIS). Monitor vaccine inventory, and vaccine storage and handling requirements to prevent vaccine wastage among all VFC and Adult 317 participants. All applicants for this position must be licensed in accordance with the Nursing Practice Act § 61-3-2 through 61-3-31 NMSA 1978 and 16.12.1 through NMAC, as applicable. Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of closing date.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for this position must possess and maintain a current New Mexico Registered Nursing license or eligible for licensure in accordance with Nursing practice Act 61-3-2 through 61-3-31 NMSA 1978 and 16-12-1 through NMAC, as applicable.

Minimum Qualification
Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico, or eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements, or eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico and three (3) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Successful completion of HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act), and successful completion of CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvements Act) trainings are required within sixty (60) days of employment. Position will require Blood-borne pathogen training and successful completion of CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) course within thirty (30) days as condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Services are provided in a clinic, auxiliary and community sites with potential exposure to communicable diseases and computer usage for a variety of clinic and office functions. Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual / Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage with extended periods of office noise, bending, standing and lifting. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Services are provided in a clinic with diverse racial and ethnic populations, many who do not speak the English language. May be required to work evening and / or weekend hours at various Public Health Offices.
