the LVN is central to carrying out these policies at the point of care.
- Implement infection protocols : Following established procedures for preventing disease transmission, including hand hygiene, using personal protective equipment (PPE), and ensuring proper patient placement.
- Monitor patient compliance : Ensuring that patients adhere to isolation precautions and other infection control measures prescribed by their care plan.
- Educate patients and staff : Providing basic education to patients and other staff members on proper hygiene and infection prevention techniques, such as wound care for patients being discharged.
- Observe and report : Reporting any signs of infection or breaches in protocol to the supervising RN or IP. This can include monitoring patients for symptoms and reporting concerns related to infection control.
- Wound care : In roles such as a "treatment nurse," an LVN may oversee wound care protocols, which are critical for preventing hospital-acquired infections.
