The Instructional Designer collaborates with cross-functional teams to design, review, and deliver innovative, high-quality learning experiences for PAEA’s members. Working closely with subject matter experts and stakeholders, the Instructional Designer identifies learning needs, develops goals and objectives, and creates effective educational content. Additionally, this position serves as a learning experience consultant, advising teams across the organization on best practices for designing impactful, learner-centered programs. This role requires expertise in instructional design, adult learning theory, and educational technologies.

Essential Functions
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop learning solutions to include courses, workshops, certificate programs, webinars, virtual learning, and other learning products or programs, ensuring both quality and excellence.
Work with internal and external stakeholders to evaluate the learning needs of PAEA members and develop learning objectives and goals.
Lead and coordinate project meetings to ensure the successful execution of projects from initiation to completion.
Apply instructional design principles and adult learning theory to create engaging and effective learning experiences.
Design and develop educational materials, including workbooks, facilitator guides, activities, reference tools, and other training resources.
Utilize educational technologies and authoring tools to develop interactive and multimedia-rich learning materials.
Conduct quality assurance checks on educational materials to ensure accuracy, consistency, and effectiveness.
Evaluate the impact and effectiveness of educational programs through assessments and feedback mechanisms.
Analyze participation and performance data to identify opportunities to optimize the educational portfolio and user experience.
Review and evaluate existing programs to make recommendations for enhancements, revisions, and product sunsetting.
Curate content from relevant and reputable sources to ensure content and courses address member needs.
Stay current with trends and best practices in instructional design, e-learning, and educational technologies, sourcing innovative solutions that contribute to the growth and scalability of the business line.
Collaborate with the education team to develop a comprehensive education strategy that aligns with the association's goals and objectives.
Coordinate with the Communications team to support marketing strategy and execution for the education products.
Writing course descriptions for website, catalog, and technology platforms in partnership with subject matter experts and marketing.
Develop a deep knowledge of the Education business line to serve as a trusted consultant on education programs.
Analyzing operational processes and business challenges to identify areas for process improvement for PAEA education programs.
Qualifications
Required : Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, education, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in instructional design and / or education, preferably in an association or non-profit setting.
Proficiency in instructional design principles and adult learning theory, including methodologies such as ADDIE, SAM, and Kirkpatrick’s Levels of Evaluation.
Demonstrated experience working with educational technology, including learning management systems (LMS), e-learning authoring tools, and multimedia development software.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
Experience with advanced video and photo editing tools as well as graphic design tools.
Excellent skills in problem-solving, interpersonal communication, writing / editing, planning, organization, time management, productivity, efficiency, and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and operate effectively in a remote environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in instructional design, education, or related field.
Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Premiere Rush.
APTD certification.
Experience with Salesforce, Edcast, Cornerstone, and / or Articulate 360 Suite.
Experience with Smartsheet.
Experience in project management and / or PMP certification.

Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodation.
Travel Requirements
This position requires periodic travel to assigned organizational events, including the annual conference, annual staff retreat, and any other meetings as deemed necessary.
Work Authorization
The individual in this position must be authorized to work in the United States.
Work Environment & Benefits
This position is remote, with no in-office presence required.
PAEA offers a competitive salary and benefits that considers external market compensation and maintains internal equity. The salary range for this position is $75,000–$85,000 annually. The benefits package includes health, life, and disability insurances; paid time off and holidays; a 403(b) retirement plan with an 8% employer contribution; monthly wellness stipend, professional development funding, tuition assistance, and other benefits.
