Process Control Engineer

Overview

K2 Pure Solutions, founded in 2010, is a Chlor-Alkali manufacturer operating inherently safer technology to produce chemicals such as bleach for water disinfection in Northern California communities. Bleach is the modern, preferred water treatment chemical displacing chlorine throughout the world. K2 Pure Solutions produces bleach onsite from salt, water, and electricity, reducing the danger of a chlorine railcar release into communities trans-America. Other chlor-alkali products produced include chlorine, hydrogen, hydrochloric acid, and caustic soda.

Responsibilities

• The process control engineer is responsible for maintenance of existing process control code, improvement of the existing code, and development of new process control code.
• Experience with Allen Bradley Control Logix DCS system and its programming; troubleshooting and maintenance of the system.
• Calibration, maintenance and repair of field smart instruments, control valves and analyzers.
• Develop preventive and scheduled maintenance program for control systems and field instruments.
• Familiar with communication protocols such as Ethernet TCP / IP, Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU.
• Provide hands-on support of operations, technical and maintenance teams; participate in safety, area classifications, and interlocks to protect plant safety and property.
• Familiar with current statutory regulations, industry standards and recommended practices.
• Develop and support basic process control applications using skills such as point building, loop tuning and identification of process dynamics.
• Maintain and modify existing process control applications and operator interfaces; identify and develop new control schemes to increase safety, operability, and profitability.
• Provide process control support during project development, installation, and startup; contribute to technology planning and engineering standards to maximize ROI, reliability, and maintainability.
• Act as technical lead for internal and external teams to implement process control projects; serve as process automation expert in multiple areas / plants with strong problem solving and troubleshooting.
• Demonstrate expert understanding of plant operations, maintenance, and engineering principles related to the facility.
• Participate in PHA's, PSSR's, incident investigations and unit troubleshooting; familiar with safety and environmental training requirements.
• Understand government regulations such as OSHA and applicable standards at an intermediate level.
• Complete all safety and environmental training required.
• Develop expert knowledge of process control principles to assess and support area / plant operations.
• Process control projects may involve evaluating commercial aspects of upgrades and service contracts.
• Support area / plant during project development, installation, and startup; develop engineering standards and work processes to ensure ROI.
• BSChe or BSEE or related BS degree; 10 years of experience as a process controls engineer in chemical plants with continuous processes; experience in chlor-alkali or membrane cell technology is preferred.

Compensation

The starting base annual salary for this role is between $110k - $150k at the time of posting. The actual pay depends on factors such as education, experience, and skills. Base pay is part of K2 Pure Solution's total compensation package that can include strong benefits, perks, and bonuses. The base pay range may be modified in the future.
