Director of Engineering
About :
A rapidly growing, employee-owned manufacturer of building envelope solutions based in Hammonton, NJ with over 13 years in business is seeking a Director of Engineering to help lead their growing team! They are currently experiencing 100% growth year of year! Looking for an Engineering manager / Director with experience in fast paced environments, companies that have scaled and growing engineering teams.
Offer : Salary range : $165,000-$200,000 depending on experience
Bonus opportunities - Company performance and team based
Hybrid remote - 2 or 3 days in office

Qualifications :
Proven success leading engineering organizations in manufacturing (building products or adjacent).
Demonstrated people leadership (hiring, coaching, performance management) and portfolio / budget ownership.
Strong cross-functional collaboration with Operations, Sales / Marketing, and external stakeholders (architects, contractors, certification agencies).
Excellent communication (verbal, written, and digital) and executive reporting skills.
Bachelors degree in engineering required.
Nice to have but not required :
Experience with sheet metal fabrication and / or plastics manufacturing, equipment, and design
Working knowledge of SolidWorks / AutoCAD
Exposure to building codes, specifications, and industry standards relevant to storm shelters / safe rooms.
Background with PLM systems, FMEA, and data-driven continuous improvement.
Advanced degree (M.S. or MBA), PE, PMP, etc.
Responsibilities : Strategy & Portfolio
Own the multi-year engineering and technology roadmap aligned to company strategy and revenue targets; translate strategy into clear annual plans and budgets.
Lead product portfolio management (gate reviews, make / buy / partner decisions, IP strategy) to prioritize the highest-value opportunities.
Define and track KPIs for innovation velocity, cost, quality, and customer outcomes; report progress to the executive team needed.
Operational Excellence
Build scalable engineering operations : capacity planning, vendor / partner management, standard work, and documentation (PLM, revision control).
Oversee in-house and third-party qualification testing and certification; ensure results are documented and actionable across RPH.
Partner with Manufacturing to drive design-for- manufacture / assembly (DFM / DFA), yield, and cost improvements.
Ensure robust Quality Management System practices; lead / prepare for certification audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
People & Organization
Build and develop a multidisciplinary engineering organization (mechanical, materials, test / validation, drafting / CAD).
Hire, coach, and succession-plan for key roles; set clear expectations, career paths, and learning plans.
Foster a customer-first, data-driven, best-in-class culture aligned to RPH Core Values.
Product & Innovation Leadership
Oversee all engineering aspects
Product & Innovation Leadership
Oversee all engineering aspects of R&D and new product development : define product requirements, target COGS, reliability goals, and field installation experience in partnership with Product, Operations, and Sales.
Stay ahead of emerging construction technologies, materials, and codes to inform the roadmap and competitive positioning.
Stakeholder & Market Engagement
Serve as a senior technical voice with architects, contractors, owners, and certification bodies to ensure specifications, codes, and safety requirements are met.
Partner with Marketing and Business Development to shape go-to-market narratives, technical content, and competitive differentiation.
Sponsor creation of installation manuals, submittals, and technical guides; ensure field feedback loops inform product iterations.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
Own engineering budget, vendor contracts in scope, and capital recommendations.
Manage code compliance, regulatory changes, and product safety risks; maintain a proactive stance on standards that impact our products.
