The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and if applicable, rank and / or step. The base pay range for this position is $300,000 - $385,000. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan. Position description

The Department of Surgery (https : / / surgery.ucsd.edu / ) and the Division of Transplant Surgery (https : / / surgery.ucsd.edu / divisions / transplant / index.html ) at UC San Diego are committed to academic excellence among the faculty, staff, and student body.

The UC San Diego Health Transplant Program is seeking outstanding, highly motivated transplant surgeons with expertise in liver and kidney transplantation, living donor nephrectomy, and organ procurement to join our successful and growing liver and kidney transplant team at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level.

The selected candidates will be responsible for teaching trainees-such as students and residents-providing clinical care to patients, and / or conducting research.

These positions do not involve any hepatobiliary surgery.

The appropriate series and appointment will be based on the candidate's background and experience.

As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities, and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. Qualifications

Basic qualifications

(required at time of application)

Candidates must have an MD, DO, or equivalent degree.

Candidates must be board certified or board eligible in General Surgery.

Candidates must also have, or be eligible for, a California medical license or an equivalent certification / permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.

Additional qualifications

(required at time of start)

Candidates must have completed an ASTS Transplant Surgery Fellowship by the start of the appointment.

Preferred qualifications

Candidates with 1+ years of experience in organ procurement, normothermic reperfusion, and machine perfusion are preferred.

Candidates with 1+ years of experience in peritoneal dialysis and living donor nephrectomy are preferred.

Candidates with 1+ years of experience working in multidisciplinary teams, and effectively collaborating on complex projects, are preferred.

Candidates with 1+ years of experience in clinical and / or translational research are also preferred.
