KGO-TV / ABC7 News, the ABC Owned Television station in San Francisco, is seeking a smart, dedicated and aggressive multi-skilled journalist who loves to dig and enterprise lead stories. ABC7 News is committed to Building a Better Bay Area through solutions journalism. The ideal candidate must be a passionate storyteller, brilliant multi-platform content creator, effective communicator and proven collaborator. Candidates must have a strong editorial background in a breaking news environment and be active users of social media for newsgathering with the ability to move the audience between linear and digital platforms. The candidate should shoot, write and edit visually creative, memorable stories with active live reporting, and have a proven track record of developing contacts and sources to tell impactful stories. Innovation, ability to work under pressure, receptiveness to feedback, and leadership in a newsroom are valued traits.

Reporters are expected to turn stories daily for newscasts, our website and our 24 / 7 stream. They should have an active presence on social media, and will write, shoot with lightweight digital cameras, edit their stories, and appear live from the field during the station’s newscast. Reporters use consumer, prosumer digital camera equipment, cell phones, and non-linear desktop editing.

They must pitch original stories and develop contacts within the community. This position is covered under the Company’s collective bargaining agreement with SAG-AFTRA.

Compensation & Benefits

The hiring range for this position in San Francisco, CA is $90,948 to $160,000 per year based on a 40 hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and / or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and / or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered. This position is subject to internal equity considerations and applicable collective bargaining agreements.
