Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Vac Truck Operator to join our underground utility construction team. This role involves operating vacuum trucks to perform pipeline cleaning, hydro excavation, and debris removal in support of rehabilitation projects including slip lining, drainage installation, and canal & lake bank restoration. The position requires a Class A CDL and overnight travel Sunday – Friday.
What You’ll Do
Safely operate vacuum trucks for hydro excavation, debris removal, and pipeline cleaning
Perform daily vehicle inspections (pre-trip and post-trip) and routine maintenance checks
Assist with underground utility construction tasks on-site
Operate small tools and equipment (pumps, gas saws, compactors, backhoes, bobcats)
Properly load and unload equipment and materials at job sites
Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company safety standards
Maintain detailed logs of work performed, mileage, fuel, and equipment usage
Communicate effectively with dispatchers, supervisors, and crew members
Required Qualifications
CDL Class A Driver’s License required
3–5 years of experience in commercial driving and vac truck operation
Underground utility construction experience required
Mechanical aptitude to perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment
Ability to follow safety protocols and work independently or as part of a crew
Strong communication skills and professional work ethic
Willingness to travel and stay overnight (Sunday–Friday)
